We are so excited for you and congratulations on your engagement! An important detail to keep in mind when deciding on a wedding location is the photo opportunities because let’s face it, the most memorable part of your wedding day (besides the beginning of your marriage) are the pictures you take. Every bride is looking for that perfect wedding Instagram, to get repins on Pinterest and possibly go viral.
If you’re planning a wedding at the classic Mansion at Mountain Lakes, there are beautiful gardens at The Mansion for all of you wedding photos, but here are some other must-see locations in the picturesque, historic town of Mountain Lakes for you to explore.
ISLAND BEACH AT MOUNTAIN LAKES
Conveniently located on the main Boulevard of ML you’ll find the most adorable and quaint beach. Grab a shot on the docks for a colorful water background. Depending on the time of day the lighting and trees reflection on the water is to-die-for.
On top of that walking along the beach barefoot with your dress lifted and your brand new husband next to you with the stone walls behind you is sure to get you some extra “likes”.
Finally, the wooden gazebo is the perfect romantic photo! There’s no spot at this location that won’t be a perfect backdrop.
THE TRAIN STATION & THE ESPLANADE AT MOUNTAIN LAKES
Nothing says “starting a new journey” like a shot on the train tracks and the rustic stone building adds a great backdrop to the shots making it look like the beginning of something special. Take the classic #boyfriendholdinghandtogirlfiendwalkingahead shot also known as the #followmeto series, you’ve seen on every girl’s Instagram.
Pro tip: If you walk across the street and up the stairs there is an open field perfect for shots in a grass field. A great photo is the two of you walking towards the camera looking down or at each other.
BIRCHWOOD LAKE
For a more secretive and tiny spot, drive over to Birchwood- a smaller lake perfectly placed in the middle of a natural park. There’s a man-made path that goes all the way around the lake perfect for an “explorative” photo or the classic sitting on a bench in the middle of nowhere.
Fun fact: This park is open all year round, fall is the best season with changing leaves and is dog-friendly so if you have a pooch bring him along for some “family” shots as well.
GRACE LORD PARK
Located adjacent to downtown Boonton, along the cascading Rockaway River, Grace Lord Park features spectacular waterfalls, a landmark gazebo as well as historic stone ruins. The grounds also offer a fountain and a playground with swings – perfect for a fun shot with your new spouse. Boonton Falls is perhaps its most unique attraction which, according to the town’s website, is rivaled only by the Great Falls of Paterson.
